Loan servicing

Servicing is the long tail of a loan — scheduled collections, failed payments, early settlement, restructuring requests, arrears handling, and the paperwork each of those generates. It runs for years, while origination lasts days.

It is also where operational cost accumulates. Every exception that has to be handled by email and spreadsheet is repeated across the whole book, which is why servicing is usually the first thing worth automating properly.
